Boston Globe: Visions of Morocco, By Marni Elyse Katz

JUST AS Frank Lloyd Wright outfitted the interiors of his architectural masterpieces with Persian carpets, today’s designers favor Moroccan rugs, be it a Beni Ourain in a contemporary living room or a Bourcherouite rug in a Scandinavian-style flat. A gorgeous array of Moroccan carpets new and old is on sale through Nov. 7 at a pop-up shop at the Boston Design Center. Hand-woven in the Atlas Mountains, the designs are varied and spectacular, and include these wedding blankets, called handira, embellished with silver sequins. On left, modern Moroccan wedding blanket, $750; on right, vintage Moroccan wedding cape, $450; on floor, modern Beni Ourain carpet, $2,250
